 Outpatient Counseling Services for Adults

The Outpatient Counseling program provides therapy to adults, with a wide variety of mental health needs. We use a brief, strategic and solution based therapy to decrease symptoms of distress, to help return people to a higher level of functioning and to improve the quality of our consumer’s lives. aThe emphasis is on group therapy. Groups address some of life's most stressful issues. Because this is one of our most popular programs, consumers may experience a wait for services.

Outpatient therapists have a master’s degree and are licensed or license eligible in the State of Illinois. They actively refer consumers to additional professional services at CCC or in the community, including support groups.

  Care Management

For those living with psychiatric disorders, even the smallest of life's tasks can become overwhelming. It's tempting to give up or let go of hope. Families are often unable to cope and have few places to turn for support.

Care management helps people with psychiatric illness enter or re-enter the community and become as independent as possible. Special populations served include adults with chronic psychiatric illness, Elderly (age 60 and above), and Mental Ilness/Substance Abuse (MISA).

  Psychiatric and Medical Services

Services are provided by a staff psychiatrist to registered consumers during regular week day hours. Consumers participate in an initial evaluation, which is reviewed on an annual basis. Consumers are assessed for medication needs including the administration of medications, medication education and medication monitoring. Medical Services staff work with the psychiatrist in the referral to and follow-up of medical laboratory work.

Medical services are provided by either Licensed Practical Nurses, a Registered Nurse or by a dietician and include TB testing and reading, coordination of prescription and laboratory services, dietary consultation and occupational health services to CCC employees. Medical services helps consumers manage their psychiatric or medical illnesses by providing individual or group education about their medications or mental health illnesses.

Psychosocial Rehabilitation (PSR)

PSR is a holistic approach to wellness for individuals with psychiatric illness that goes beyond medication and symptom management. It recognizes individual needs and wants, within a practical framework that promotes self-determination.

PSR builds on individual strengths. Rather than focusing on symptoms or disabilities an individual's talents and special abilities are identified and used to help them achieve their goals. The program offers skills training, education, work opportunities, self-esteem building, art therapy, and socializing in structured group settings (see the Drop In Social Skills Center page).

All these elements contribute significantly to the development of an atmosphere of hope and possibility.

Senior Services

Comprehensive assessment, consultation and treatment services are provided to residents of Madison County who are 60 years of age or older. Referrals of seniors may come from the consumer, family members, senior centers, physicians, or hospitals.

Services including support and counseling with the consumer or their family, crisis intervention and referral and linkage to other community supports are provided to help the senior consumer continue to live in the community in the least restrictive environment.
